Mr & Mrs Whiter

Nick Wedding advice

‚ÄčI remember the day I heard a tragic accident that led to two promising and talented young footballers fighting for their lives and eventually leading to one of them losing both his legs, Shaun had gone to the assistant of friend Joey to help with a puncture at 1am and the pair could never have imagined what was about to happen due to the actions of a mindless idiotic driver who had ploughed into them trapping them both, Joey had sustained terrible injuries & Shaun was trapped between the two vehicles losing blood at an alarming rate, Charlotte was alerted and came to the scene, whilst waiting for the emergency services and the East Anglian Air Ambulance, Shaun vowed to Charlotte that whatever the outcome he would still walk her down the aisle, this is the story of their big day……..

When I heard about that tragic night in July of last year I can honestly say I had tears in my eyes, it really hit home to me being in the Wedding industry that some thing’s we take for granted in life are so much more than precious, such as getting married and walking down the aisle with your future life partner.
I had decided I wanted to be involved with this big day and give them both the best wedding party ever, so I made contact with Joey, Shaun & Charlotte to offer my services free of charge just to be a part of something so big they were working towards.
We met in Bury St Edmunds in late 2016 while Shaun was undergoing physio and was still in a wheelchair, as we parked in the town centre we could see a trail of locals pointing and talking about Shaun as the wheeled past them, such was the way the story had captured the publics hearts & attention, not just in Suffolk but across the U.K. & Europe……it was like we were meeting an ‘A’ list celebrity.
We sat, we chatted, we drank coffee, we planned, I asked what their perfect wedding entertainment would consist of, we then said our goodbyes and started the planning process.
A few Skype calls and numerous messages led us to the Big Day…….the 21st July 2017
The beautiful setting in Burrough Green near Newmarket was rightly blessed in sunshine all day, befitting of such an occasion, a marquees had been erected in the grounds of the family home with a theme of The Great Gatsby all beautifully bedecked in Black & Gold, it really did look amazing.
The emotion attached to the walking down the aisle was incredible, that was what they had worked toward for so long, and not only had they done it, they really did do it in style!
I had the pleasure of working closely with some great wedding professionals on the day too, including Thomas Elwood who was responsible for that fantastic shot of Charlotte & Shaun walking down the aisle, as well many more great shots I’m sure, Beccy & Jonathan from Cloud Nine Films who I know will produce an amazing film of the whole day, it was a pleasure to work with you guys, I know they too offered their services for free on the day…….while cocktail drinks were being served a steel band played chilled music to the many guests, then as if by magic the very guys who had saved Shaun’s life that night in 2016 did a lap of honour flyby and hovered over the marquee in the East Anglian Air Ambulance much to the delight, cheerrs and waving of everyone on the ground.
The moment had then arrived when we welcomed Charlotte & Shaun into the wedding breakfast for their Grand Entrance to rapturous applause and cheering, very emotional it was too.
The food was fantastic with meat being served to each table and a designated ‘meat carver’ supplied with an apron on each table, great fun.
On to the cake cut and First Dance, again very emotion dancing to a song by The Script called Never Seen Anything ‘Quite Like You’, I had supplied the *’Dancing on the Clouds‘ effect for the dance along with a confetti explosion which took a few people by surprise but certainly made for THE most perfect of First Dance photos.
The party then went on into the night with a jam packed dance floor through till 1am, when I left the drink was still flowing well.
In conclusion, I felt so privileged to be involved in making their special day so much more than just another ‘ordinary’ wedding, would I work again and put all that effort in free of charge?……….you bet I would!
I love you both and wish you all the happiness in the world, you truly deserve everything that comes your way.
